With just 10 days until the official opening of Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, we are getting excited not just an amazing immersive Star Wars experience but for the latest additions to the Star Wars Droid Factory line. As revealed at Star Wars Celebration Chicago last month, two new multi-packs and a playset will be joining the line which has been in continual production since 2012.

In speaking with the designers of this line, we were able to confirm that the 3 3/4″ Build-a-Droid line will continue but not as a part of Galaxy’s Edge or the Droid Depot. We also learned that there will be another upcoming Holiday exclusive droid and as the holiday season for Disney begins in August, it is unclear on which holiday it will be centered on.

Thanks to Disney’s Shop Disney Parks app, we now know the prices for each of these sets and perhaps even a preview of more to come.

This and each of the sets begin releasing this month include the new feature of color-change for the Droid Factory line. Each figure comes packaged in their cool deco (32-64 degrees) and can be changed to a different one with warm water (86-107.6 degrees).

The set includes four droids whose molds have all appeared before in the line.

  • 3PO Protocol Droid (changes from a black 3PO droid to C-3PO)
  • BB Unit (changes from a blue and orange BB unit to BB-8)
  • R4 Astromech (changes from a black R4 droid to a white and dark blue? R4 droid)
  • CZ Protocol Droid  (changes from an orange CZ protocol droid to CZ-3)

This set will retail in the Droid Depot and potentially on the Shop Disney app for $39.99.

This set is designed to help assist collectors of this line with changing their droids from one color to another. It includes Aurebesh-like lettering showing it off as a “Cybot Galactica 3PO Protocol Droid Oil Bath”. It also includes a “Power Converter” among other “Droid Depot” markings.

In addition to these sets we have learned of the following two BYOD (Build Your Own Droid) sets which may be upcoming exclusive releases as there are not pictures featured and fit the right price category for park exclusive figures.

Now in conclusion, this line is not to be confused with Disney’s more expensive and larger Droid Depot Build-a-Droids which you can learn about here. Those droids will be interactive with the park as opposed to to collectible toys.

I’m sure we will learn more in the months ahead about the Droid Factory line and potential exclusives as fans and collectors head to California to be transported to a galaxy far, far away. We have our tickets for August so look for a Disney’s Droid Factory Build-a-Droid database update by Summer’s end!
